Cyclone hits the Bay of Bengal: an appeal to members

As the world is going through an unprecedented crisis as a result of Covid-19, people in Kolkata and its suburbs were in the forefront of a natural disaster, the Amphan Super Cyclone. It is the first Super Cyclone in the Bay of Bengal in the last 20 years and the resulting loss in property is estimated to be in the range of £1 billion.

Covid-19 and social-distancing measures have made mass evacuations more difficult for authorities, with shelters unable to be used to full capacity. So far 72 lives have been lost and more than 1000s are homeless.

Our good friend and colleague, Sarthak Mondal is aiming to raise £500 to be donated to charities across the city of Kolkata, who are working tirelessly to make sure that people who have lost access to food and shelter are provided with the same. The Football Collective has made a £100.00 donation which will be processed later today, we would urge anyone who can to make a donation – however small – as every little bit can make a big difference.
